Jonathan Goodman

Jonathan Goodman has over 30 years of experience successfully investing in and managing real estate secured loans and direct real estate investments. His investment philosophy focuses on minimizing downside risk through investment structuring and focusing on aligning the interests of counterparties in transactions. 

Jonathan founded Hudson Place Financial in 2008 to take advantage of dislocations in the financial markets resulting from the Great Recession by acquiring loans and bonds in the secondary market and making direct equity investments in commercial real estate. From 2014 through 2019, he formed a joint venture with a San Francisco-based PE firm with a broad mandate to invest across the capital stack in the commercial real estate sector.

Jonathan’s primary experience in the industry was gained working at various Beal Bank subsidiaries. After joining Beal in 1994, Jonathan rose to President of Loan Acquisition Corporation (LAC), the acquisition arm for the Beal Bank entities. Reporting directly to the Chairman of the bank, Jonathan was responsible for all whole loan purchases. During his tenure as President of LAC, Beal purchased more than $4 billion of total debt. 

Jonathan was born and educated in the UK and graduated with honors BS Honors in Management Sciences from the University of Manchester. Jonathan lives in Plano, Texas with his wife and two children.
